For the past few years I’ve been working with the Friends of Oakland Animal Services to photograph adoption stories for their yearly calendar. This year I traveled into SF to meet Chester. An extremely sweet guy who, after a very long and sad stay in the Oakland shelter, finally has a great new home.
Chester is a goofy mastiff mix adolescent who first came to us under protective custody nearly four years ago. Chester basically grew up at the shelter and in foster while the DA investigated and prosecuted his owner for neglect. It was years before we were allowed to make him available for adoption. Last fall, a wonderful couple in San Francisco saw an online video of Chesters New Home and fell in love. Meeting Chester sealed the deal, and he’s been a (big!) bundle of love for them ever since.
