Pets are a part of your family tree!
Many believe that bringing their dog to a portrait studio is too much hassle. And a family portrait session, especially including pets, would be chaos. I get it, I'm a mom, a business owner and I have three pets at home. I also know how treasured these portraits become over time.
- Worried about how your dogs or kids might behave?
- Unsure if you want to be in the photos?
- Concerned a custom photoshoot will be too demanding in terms of time and effort?
Client Love!

"We had a wonderful experience with Cyndi. We went over to her studio to have pictures of our two-rescue canine babies taken. Cyndi was very patient with our youngest, who was very scared. The picture turned out so great and we were very happy with the results. I would highly recommend Cyndi for your puppy (and human) pictures!"

Meet Cyndi
Hi I’m Cyndi. I’m a pet and child photographer but more importantly, I am a mom and a lifelong dog lover.
I grew up with my doggie best friend, Heidi, and my son grew up with Jasmine, his Dalmatian sister. I know exactly how special the bond we develop with our furry best friend is.
With over 13 years of experience photographing kids, pets, and the families who love them, I've developed a calm, laid-back style that makes subjects comfortable. Smiles and hugs come naturally and we focus on your connections.

Meet Mellow the Poodle Model in Albany
Some dogs chase balls, others dig holes, still more run on the beach and sometimes eat sand, but occasionally there is the dog who agrees to sit looking pretty and strike a pose for me. This week that was Mellow. He knows he’s a handsome fella and since he just had a good grooming and […]
Read MoreMeet Aki – my first session of 2011
Well, the weather may not be the best, but the year is starting off well here at Chickpea Photography. My first session of the year was with the adorable and very sweet Aki, a Akita, Shepard, Bernese mix. We strolled around Jack London Square smelling the sites and eating treats. Aki has a great smile […]
Read MoreChloe the agility pooch in Jack London Square
I was surprised by Chloe (or Chloe the agility pooch), don’t let her diminutive size and regal appearance fool you. She likes to have fun, romp, and play in the grass, as well as being incredibly sweet and charming. Chloe I discovered loves to chase the ball and she also jumps after it and […]
Read MoreAlong came Betsy
It was fate that I should photograph Betsy. I first met her in May when she was just a little cutie awaiting adoption at Berkeley Humane. Then I ran into her walking her humans at Tilden Park one day in July and was amazed to see how much she had grown in those few short […]
Read MoreMeet Phoenix – all dressed up on a Saturday night
Phoenix is a diminutive Doxie with a big personality and even bigger wardrobe. She modeled some of her favorite outfits for me the other night and when we were done with the fashion show, she cuddled up on the couch and rested her head on my lap. Perhaps her biggest feature isn’t her […]
Read MoreRIP Jasmine
Even when you know it is coming it isn’t easy losing a pet. Jasmine was almost 15 and in failing health for a few years, but still had her good days; enjoyed a head scratch and never said no to a steak dinner. She was a typical Dalmatian in that she was stubborn, neurotic, needy […]
Read MoreA day at Peninsula Humane Society
Once per month I have the pleasure and privilege of photographing the animals of the Peninsula SPCA. I generally take photos of the long timers, pets who have been at the shelter for a year or more. This past weekend I photographed Cara – a beautiful 4 year-old pit bull who I think has a terrific […]
Read MoreHello my fellow pet lovers and welcome!
Ok, so here I am, finally with my own blog. After all, everyone is doing it so I might as well too. Though to be honest I am trying to imagine what I will find to talk about and who will be interested in reading it, but there I go being defeatist before I have […]
