Tails of the East Bay – 2020 Edition

In July of last year, I kicked off the first phase of my ambitious effort to use my camera to raise funds for animal rescue and showcase our furry best friends in cities along the San Pablo Avenue corridor. I ended up photographing 60 dogs in 35 locations raising $3,000 for Milo Foundation.

All those beautiful dogs (and 1 cat) are featured in a limited edition coffee table book just released, called Tails of the East Bay – 2019 Edition. You can check it out here.

It was such a pleasure to meet and work with all those sweet pets that I decided we needed to do it again this summer! Only this time we are working with 3 fabulous and well-deserving rescue organization:

Milo Foundation in Richmond
Hopalong Animal Rescue in Oakland
Tri-Valley Animal Rescue in Pleasanton

We’ve also expanded the locales for this year and in addition to the San Pablo Avenue corridor we are also doing cities along Hwy 680 and Hwy 24. We still have space in this project for another 25 dogs, so get in touch if you’d like to help out and have your dog photographed.

Now, as a little tease let’s meet a few of the dogs we’ve already photographed.

First up, meet Abby. A sweet and lovable 7 year-old Boston Terrier. Her session was at Heather Farms Park in Walnut Creek.

Next is Dolly. A 1 year-old Border Co.lie, Aussie, cattle dog mix who loves to chase squirrels. Which she did just 30 seconds after I took this image!

Then there is Snacks. He is only 16 months old but has a ton of personality already. And those ears! He was so fun, let’s just say it was hard for me to leave without sneaking him into my car!

Now Sadie is a more mature dog at 9 years old, but she has a ton of energy as was just running up and down the stairs at Joaquin Miller Park during our session.

Next up is Nulo, a 3-year-old pittie whose owners are big-time foster parents with Hopalong and Nulo is known as the nanny dog. This session was in their Oakland neighborhood, and I personally watched him interact with some teeny puppies. He is soooo sweet.

Logan is another young dog, a 16-month-old Kelpie mix, and he also has ears to die for! His session was in Dowtown Pleansaton, and he was pretty close to the perfect model.

Lastly, for today at least is Starlord (and yes, he is a Guardians of the Galaxy namesake). We met at Albany Beach for his session, and I found him to be a joy to work with. Mellow, sweet, and a great model willing to pose.
